California’s 29th congressional district, encompassing parts of the San Fernando Valley, maintains heavy Democratic voter registration and has consistently delivered large margins for Democratic candidates in recent cycles. Incumbent Luz Maria Rivas advanced from the June 2026 top-two primary alongside fellow Democrat Angélica María Dueñas after Republican Rudy Melendez finished third and was eliminated, leaving an all-Democratic general election matchup on November 3. Forecasters across Cook Political Report, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and others rate the seat Solid or Safe Democratic. Trader consensus on the party outcome reflects these structural factors, including incumbency advantage and the absence of a Republican nominee. A Republican victory would require an unprecedented reversal, such as a major scandal or candidate withdrawal that alters the November ballot in ways not currently indicated by filings or campaign activity.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
