Redistricting following the Supreme Court ruling in Louisiana v. Callais transformed Louisiana's 6th Congressional District into a solidly Republican seat anchored in the Baton Rouge area, with Republican voter registration outpacing Democrats and a partisan lean exceeding R+16. The prior Democratic incumbent, Cleo Fields, opted not to seek reelection under the new boundaries, creating an open contest where multiple Republican state legislators, including Blake Miguez and Rick Edmonds, hold fundraising and organizational edges in a crowded jungle primary set for November 3. Historical voting patterns, including a strong 2024 presidential performance by Republicans, reinforce trader consensus around a GOP outcome, though the December runoff format and large undecided voter share in early polling leave room for shifts if Democratic turnout surges or Republican candidates fragment significantly.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
