Flávio Bolsonaro maintains a commanding lead in Mato Grosso do Sul first-round voting intentions due to the state's conservative electorate and alignment with agribusiness priorities. Recent polls, including AtlasIntel and Quaest surveys from late August and early September 2026, show him ahead of Lula by double digits, consistent with broader right-leaning sentiment among interior voters and younger demographics. His Liberal Party candidacy, backed by Jair Bolsonaro's endorsement, benefits from local historical ties and policy emphasis on rural issues ahead of the October 4 first round. Other registered candidates, including Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and smaller-party entrants, register minimal support in state-specific data. While the frontrunner's position reflects entrenched regional patterns, shifts in turnout or unexpected consolidation among competing conservative options remain the primary variables that could narrow margins before election day.
