Bosnia and Herzegovina's October 4, 2026, general election features a highly fragmented contest for third place in the 42-seat state House of Representatives, where proportional representation across ethnic lines amplifies small shifts in voter support among Bosniak, Croat, and Serb parties. Recent polling averages place SDA ahead in the Federation but with modest leads over SDP BiH, HDZ BiH, and NiP, while SNSD and SDS hold firmer ground in Republika Srpska; coalition realignments after the 2022-2025 governing arrangement collapsed have further blurred traditional hierarchies. Candidate list finalization, biometric voting rollout, and ongoing attempts to build alternative parliamentary majorities have kept momentum fluid without decisive separation. Minor swings in turnout among key voting blocs, last-minute coalition pacts, or regional variations in the Federation could reorder the middle pack, as the threshold and compensatory mandates reward narrow margins in multi-constituency voting.
