This market will resolve according to the winner of the Republican Primary for Governor of Rhode Island, scheduled to take place on September 8, 2026. Resolution will be based on the overall winner of the primary, including any potential second round or run-off. If no 2026 Rhode Island Gubernatorial Republican Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the Rhode Island Republican Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.Aaron Guckian secured the Republican Party endorsement at the June 2026 state convention by a wide delegate margin over Elaine Pelino and entered the September 9 primary as the frontrunner among a small field that included limited activity from candidates such as Robert Raimondo and Jessica de la Cruz. Official results showed Guckian narrowly prevailing with roughly 50.6 percent of the vote to Pelino’s 49.4 percent, a margin of several hundred votes that triggered a recount request and delayed final certification. Trader consensus reflects the party’s institutional support, Guckian’s prior statewide name recognition from his 2022 lieutenant governor bid, and the projected outcome once absentee and remaining ballots are tallied. A successful recount reversal or prolonged legal challenge to certification remain the primary scenarios that could still alter the result before the general election.
