Recent Mexico inflation data show headline CPI easing from 4.45% in April to 3.12% in July 2026 before rising modestly to 3.26% in August, remaining within Banxico’s 2-4% tolerance band but above the 3% target. Core inflation has declined more gradually to around 3.9%, reflecting persistent services pressures amid a cooling labor market and subdued economic growth. Banxico has held its policy rate steady at 6.50% since May, citing upside risks from potential USMCA trade disruptions, geopolitical tensions, peso volatility, and climate shocks, while revising its 2026 growth outlook higher to 1.5%. Analyst forecasts for year-end 2026 cluster near 3.8-4.1%, supporting trader consensus around the 4.00-4.49% range as the most probable outcome for annual inflation.
