Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Penghu County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Chen Chen-chung leads the Penghu County Magistrate race with a 77.5% implied probability, well ahead of Wu Shu-chin at 22.5% and the remaining candidates below 2%. The KMT nominee, a former Huxi Township head, benefits from unified party backing after nomination in April 2026. In contrast, the DPP fielded Wu Shu-chin in June after incumbent Chen Kuang-fu’s February head injury left him unable to campaign, disrupting continuity in a county that has alternated between the major parties. A crowded field of six candidates, including independents Yeh Chu-lin, Hsu Chih-fu, Chou Ni-an, and Chen Chin-chuan, raises the prospect of vote fragmentation similar to the 2022 DPP win. Mid-2026 polling showed Chen Chen-chung ahead by roughly nine points, and no subsequent developments have altered that positioning ahead of the November 28 vote.
