Recent stabilization of U.S. retail egg prices around the $2.19 per dozen level recorded in July 2026 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics underpins the market-implied concentration in the $2.10–$2.30 range. Expanded layer flocks exceeding 340 million birds, record-high hen productivity, and subdued wholesale benchmarks near $0.35–$0.62 per dozen have created sustained oversupply that outpaces strong but insufficient domestic demand. This dynamic follows sharp 2025 price spikes from avian influenza and has kept downward pressure on August readings despite minor month-over-month firmness. Traders are pricing in continuity with the post-peak decline trajectory ahead of the September 11 BLS release, with limited scope for abrupt shifts absent new supply disruptions.
