Recent monthly inflation prints, including the August 2026 year-over-year rate of 3.26% that edged above July’s 3.12% low, have reinforced trader focus on the 4.00–4.49% band for Mexico’s full-year 2026 outcome. Disinflation from the first-quarter peak near 4.6% has been driven by energy subsidies and softer non-core components, yet core inflation remains elevated near 3.9%, reflecting sticky services prices. Banxico’s decision to hold the policy rate at 6.50% signals caution amid upside risks from peso movements and external shocks, while consensus forecasts cluster around 3.5–4.1% for year-end. These dynamics support the market-implied probability of 37.5% for the 4.00–4.49% range as the leading outcome, with lower bands gaining traction only if further cooling materializes before year-end data finalize the annual figure.
