Recent retail egg prices have stabilized near $2.27 per dozen in August 2026 per BLS data, down sharply from the $6.23 peak in March 2025 amid flock rebuilding after highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks. This supply recovery has created an oversupply environment, with wholesale benchmarks trading around 35 cents per dozen in mid-September and pressuring margins below production costs of roughly 78 cents. Feed costs for corn and soybean meal remain elevated but secondary to the volume surge, while steady consumer demand and seasonal factors support modest month-to-month firmness. Trader consensus around the $2.20–$2.30 bin reflects these dynamics, with limited near-term catalysts expected to shift the range before month-end resolution.

The St. Louis Fed bases its numbers for egg prices on the BLS's CPI release. The September release is presently scheduled for October 14, 2026. Resolution of this market will take place upon the update of the St. Louis Fed's chart. If no data for the specified month is released by the date the next month's data is scheduled to be released, this market will resolve based on data from the last available month.
The resolution source for this market measures prices to the third decimal place. Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket.
