This market will resolve to “Yes” if Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) participates in a televised Brazilian presidential debate by October 3, 2026, 11:59 PM Brasilia time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. To qualify, Lula must speak at least once in a debate with at least one other registered Brazilian presidential candidate present, televised live. Virtual live participation will qualify. Prerecorded appearances will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be footage of the debate, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Lula's campaign has maintained a cautious approach to televised debates ahead of Brazil's October 4 first-round presidential vote, with the president absent from the August 23 Band event alongside frontrunner Flávio Bolsonaro. A major September 14 debate organized by the Momento da Decisão consortium was canceled after neither candidate confirmed participation by the September 7 deadline, following Lula's earlier comments questioning the value of early-round exchanges. Internal PT discussions have reopened the possibility of appearances on the remaining Record and Globo dates amid tightening polls, yet no confirmations have emerged and the prevailing strategy favors limiting exposure to lower-polling opponents in the first round. Traders price the "No" outcome at 64.5% based on this pattern of non-attendance and unresolved scheduling.
