Recent September 2026 polls from Quaest and Paraná Pesquisas show Benedita da Silva (PT) leading the field for one of Rio de Janeiro’s two Senate seats with 15–30% support, reflecting her visibility as a Lula ally and established name. The race for first place remains fragmented, however, with Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos) and a cluster of PL, PSD, and other candidates clustered within margins of error amid 25–37% undecided or blank responses. Voter ability to select two names, ongoing coalition negotiations, and the absence of a dominant frontrunner beyond Benedita sustain tight implied probabilities for challengers. Late-campaign events such as debates or turnout shifts among evangelical and left-leaning blocs could widen gaps before the October 4 vote.
