Official National Weather Service observations confirm a maximum temperature of 105°F in downtown Los Angeles on September 9, 2026, exceeding the 96°F threshold by a wide margin and establishing a new daily record. This heat resulted from strong high-pressure subsidence, clear skies, and minimal marine layer influence, consistent with late-summer Santa Ana-like patterns that amplify inland warming. Market-implied odds reflect the unambiguous post-event data from authoritative monitoring stations, with traders assigning near-certainty based on verified measurements rather than models. Resolution criteria tied to official downtown readings leave little room for revision, though shifts in station weighting or data quality flags could theoretically alter outcomes in edge cases.
