Namadi Umar Alhaji, the incumbent APC governor of Jigawa State, holds dominant positioning in the February 2027 gubernatorial race following his unopposed affirmation as the party’s consensus candidate in May 2026. This followed endorsements by state assembly members, party elders, and stakeholders across all 27 local government areas, reflecting strong internal unity and control of state structures. Traders assign him the highest implied probability amid advantages from ongoing infrastructure and development projects, alignment with the federal APC administration, and limited recent disruptions. Mustapha Sule Lamido, affirmed as the PDP consensus candidate in the same period, faces structural challenges from the party’s extended time out of power and a fragmented opposition field that includes candidates from the ADC and smaller parties. No major shifts in candidate status or party dynamics have occurred since the summer 2026 primaries and running-mate selections.
