This market will resolve according to the total number of valid votes cast in the 2026 midterm election for Governor of California. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the results of the specified election are not definitively known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to the lowest range bracket. All votes certified for candidates or non-candidate options in the specified election are included. Invalidated or blank votes are not included. In ranked-choice or preferential systems, the first-round vote total will be used. The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the 2026 midterm election for Governor of California, as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Trader consensus on California’s November 2026 gubernatorial turnout remains tightly clustered across the 11–13 million vote range because the general election features a lopsided contest between Democrat Xavier Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton.** Polls show Becerra holding a consistent double-digit lead, reducing the partisan mobilization that typically drives higher participation in battleground races. Recent primary turnout reached roughly 40.8% of registered voters—the highest for a gubernatorial primary in decades—partly due to an open seat and competitive top-two contest, yet general-election participation has historically been more sensitive to national conditions, get-out-the-vote spending, and ballot propositions than to the governor’s race itself. Persistent gaps in youth and minority turnout, combined with the state’s mail-ballot system and extended counting, continue to create uncertainty around final totals. Developments that could shift probabilities include intensified Democratic or Republican field operations, high-profile ballot measures, or unexpected national events that alter voter enthusiasm in the final weeks.
