Trader consensus on September US monthly CPI shows closely matched implied probabilities for 0.4% and 0.5% month-over-month gains at 29.5% each, underscoring uncertainty from mixed recent signals. Cooling labor market conditions, including softer nonfarm payrolls and rising jobless claims, have tempered expectations, while persistent services inflation and recent energy price movements add countervailing pressure. Market-implied odds reflect aggregated positioning ahead of the release, with key swing factors including any revisions to prior CPI prints and upcoming retail sales or producer price data that could alter the near-term inflation trajectory.
