Abdul El-Sayed holds a commanding lead in trader assessments for the Oakland County portion of Michigan’s open U.S. Senate race due to his primary performance and alignment with key suburban voting blocs. The Democratic nominee secured the nomination in August after a narrow victory over Rep. Haley Stevens, whose base included Oakland County strongholds, yet El-Sayed consolidated support among college-educated and younger voters who form a sizable share of the county’s electorate. Recent statewide polling shows the overall contest as a statistical tie, but El-Sayed’s edge in those demographics supports expectations he carries the county on November 3. Mike Rogers, the Republican nominee and former congressman, leads among independents and non-college voters statewide, yet that coalition has not translated into county-level strength in current assessments. Late shifts in turnout among independents or stronger Republican mobilization in suburban precincts remain the primary variables that could narrow the gap.
