**Persistent above-target inflation and elevated expectations are anchoring trader expectations for no change at Banco de la República’s October meeting.** Headline inflation rose to 6.24% year-over-year in August 2026, exceeding forecasts and remaining well above the 3% target, while end-2026 expectations sit near 6.6%. The central bank has held the policy rate at 12% since the July 31 decision following earlier hikes, citing a sufficiently restrictive stance, peso strength, and the need to assess lagged effects amid risks such as global conflicts and domestic wage pressures. With the September 30 meeting likely to maintain the status quo, market-implied odds of 76.5% for no October change reflect this high-for-longer consensus, tempered by data dependence and the possibility of modest adjustments if inflation moderates.

Increases or decreases of less than 25 bps will be rounded to 25 bps (e.g. an increase or decrease of 10 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 25 bps). Increases or decreases of greater than 25 bps will be rounded to the nearest 25 bps and will be rounded away from 0 in cases of equidistance (e.g., an increase or decrease of 37.5 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 50 bps).
