Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.Sabina Matos secured the Democratic nomination for Rhode Island lieutenant governor in the September 9 primary, prevailing over challengers Susan R. Anderbois, Cynthia Armour Coyne, Xaykham Khamsyvoravong, and Ross McCurdy. As the incumbent since 2021, she benefited from name recognition and a track record of legislative priorities on affordability despite the state Democratic committee’s decision not to endorse and earlier polling that showed a competitive field. The low-profile race drew limited attention, with no late developments altering the outcome. Trader consensus reflects the confirmed primary results, though official certification or any unforeseen recount could theoretically extend uncertainty in a close contest.
