**Elevated U.S. laying-hen inventories after the 2025 avian-flu culls continue to drive oversupply, keeping wholesale shell-egg prices near multi-year lows of roughly 36–62 cents per dozen through late August 2026.** Strong consumer demand has not fully absorbed the added production, with the American Egg Board noting flock sizes of 340–345 million hens and monthly output exceeding absorption capacity. Retail prices, which lag wholesale movements, held near $2.19 per dozen in July per BLS data and showed only modest month-to-month volatility amid stable feed costs and limited new HPAI detections. Market-implied odds therefore cluster on the $2.20–$2.30 bracket, reflecting trader expectations that August’s BLS city-average figure will remain in this narrow band pending the September 11 release.

The St. Louis Fed bases its numbers for egg prices on the BLS's CPI release. The August release is presently scheduled for September 11, 2026. Resolution of this market will take place upon the update of the St. Louis Fed's chart. If no data for the specified month is released by the date the next month's data is scheduled to be released, this market will resolve based on data from the last available month.
The resolution source for this market measures prices to the third decimal place. Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket.
