Chellie Pingree’s commanding position in the ME-01 House race stems from the district’s consistent Democratic lean, reflected in its D+11 Partisan Voter Index and repeated Solid Democrat or Safe Democrat ratings from outlets including the Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball. The incumbent, first elected in 2008 and most recently re-elected in 2024 with 58 percent, faces rematch challenger Ronald Russell, a retired Army colonel who won the June 2026 Republican primary but previously lost by more than 20 points. Portland and coastal areas anchor Democratic strength, while no competitive polling or fundraising data has emerged to suggest erosion of that advantage ahead of the November 3 general election. A late scandal, health event, or sharp national Republican wave could theoretically narrow the margin, though historical precedent and structural factors limit such shifts.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
