Recent polling for the October 4 Maranhão Senate election shows a fragmented contest for the two seats, with Roseana Sarney (MDB), André Fufuca (PP), Lahesio Bonfim (NOVO), Weverton Rocha (PDT), and Eliziane Gama (PT) clustered within a few points in consolidated voter intentions. This tight grouping stems from competing coalitions, including Sarney and Rocha sharing a ticket with the MDB-backed gubernatorial candidate, while Fufuca and Bonfim align with another major slate. Voter choice of up to two names amplifies uncertainty around the second position. Late-campaign events, turnout variations, and any shifts in undecided voters could separate the contenders before election day.
