Note: the resolution source for this market will be the official monthly NBS CPI news release which reports inflation during 12-month periods to only one decimal point (e.g. 1.9%). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. For the full release schedule, see: https://www.stats.gov.cn/english/PressRelease/ReleaseCalendar/Recent August data showing China's CPI rising to 0.8% year-on-year, up from 0.5% in July, has anchored trader expectations for the September print. The increase stemmed mainly from higher energy and transport costs tied to global commodity pressures, while food prices remained in deflation and core inflation held near 1.0%. Weak domestic demand, subdued consumer spending, and ongoing pork price declines continue to limit broader upside, keeping the 0.7–1.0% range as the consensus cluster. Analysts note that any further energy-driven gains could push toward the higher end of that band, but persistent slack in services and goods consumption supports the current pricing distribution ahead of the mid-October release.
