Elevated inflation, which reached 6.24% year-over-year in August 2026, remains the dominant factor anchoring trader expectations for the Banco de la República’s October policy decision. Persistent pressures above the 3% target, reinforced by rising core measures and analyst surveys showing 2026 expectations near 6.6%, have sustained a restrictive 12% benchmark rate following the June hike and July hold. Recent board commentary highlighting the need to reassess policy restrictiveness amid indexation effects and demand strength supports the 68% market-implied probability of no change, while the combined 26% odds on rate increases reflect residual risks from further price data. The September 30 meeting and upcoming inflation releases will provide key inputs before October.

Increases or decreases of less than 25 bps will be rounded to 25 bps (e.g. an increase or decrease of 10 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 25 bps). Increases or decreases of greater than 25 bps will be rounded to the nearest 25 bps and will be rounded away from 0 in cases of equidistance (e.g., an increase or decrease of 37.5 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 50 bps).
