Gold (XAUUSD) is trading near $4,378 per ounce as of September 20, 2026, after rebounding from post-FOMC losses to end the prior week higher. The Federal Reserve’s September 16 rate hike of 25 basis points to the 3.75-4.00% range, coupled with signals of additional tightening, initially pressured prices via higher Treasury yields and a firmer dollar, but the move proved short-lived as oil prices eased and ETF inflows resumed. Key near-term drivers include Treasury yield movements, USD strength, and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East that could influence safe-haven demand. Traders will monitor upcoming releases such as September PMI data, initial jobless claims, and inflation expectations for directional clues, with resistance clustered near $4,400-$4,450.
