Gold trades near $4,380 per ounce in late September 2026 after a volatile month marked by the Federal Reserve’s first 25-basis-point hike since 2023, lifting the target range to 3.75–4.00 percent with signals for additional tightening. The move initially pressured prices via higher real yields and a firmer dollar, yet gold recovered as oil prices retreated from recent spikes tied to supply disruptions, easing near-term inflation concerns. Central bank purchases remain a structural support, while trader positioning shows ETF inflows resuming after earlier outflows. Key near-term influences include October FOMC communications, upcoming CPI and labor data, and Treasury yield movements, with gold’s range this month spanning roughly $4,260–$4,495 amid shifting rate-path expectations.
