Katherine Clark’s commanding position in the MA-05 race stems from the district’s deep Democratic lean, reflected in its D+24 Cook Partisan Voting Index and consistent “Safe Democratic” or “Solid Democratic” ratings from major forecasters. As House Minority Whip and longtime incumbent first elected in 2013, Clark secured a decisive primary victory on September 1, 2026, defeating two challengers with roughly 74 percent of the vote. The general election on November 3 faces only limited opposition, including an independent candidate and minimal Republican presence. Trader consensus prices this outcome at 96.5 percent for Clark because the structural advantages of incumbency, fundraising, and partisan composition have held steady. Late developments such as a major scandal, health event, or unexpected surge in opposition turnout remain the primary factors that could still shift the result before Election Day.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
