Lai Jui-lung, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee who secured his party's Kaohsiung mayoral primary earlier in 2026, holds the leading position in trader consensus at 70 percent. This reflects consistent polling advantages of 17–20 points over Kuomintang candidate Ko Chih-en, broad demographic support, and the DPP's historical strength in the city. Ko Chih-en, nominated by the KMT in late 2025, sits at roughly 30 percent amid active campaigning that includes a major Fengshan rally drawing 30,000 attendees and endorsements from national KMT figures. Minor candidates such as Chang Ching register negligible shares. Recent developments center on both campaigns shifting to coordinated billboard and policy efforts ahead of the November 28 vote, with Lai emphasizing infrastructure and Ko focusing on civic initiatives and debate challenges.
