**Guillaume Rousseau leads trader consensus at 65% for the Richmond riding in Quebec's October 5, 2026, general election, reflecting the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) candidate's profile and the party's recent hold on the seat.** Rousseau, a Université de Sherbrooke law professor, constitutional expert, and former PQ candidate in 2018, was announced as the CAQ nominee in late June 2026 by Premier Christine Fréchette; he has advised on laïcité legislation including Bill 21 and emphasizes regional issues like housing, education, and autonomy. Other declared candidates include Bernard Sévigny (PQ, ex-Sherbrooke mayor) at 19.5%, Hugo Fontaine (PLQ, former journalist) at 10.2%, Dominic Bouffard (Conservative) at 4.7%, and David Poulin-Latulippe (Québec solidaire) at 0.9%. Recent polling aggregates and projections as of early September 2026 describe a competitive toss-up among CAQ, PQ, and Liberals, with CAQ holding a modest edge in win probability around 66% in some models. The writs were issued in late August, and candidate nominations close mid-September. No major late-breaking shifts have altered the field since the June announcements.
