Strong U.S. August nonfarm payrolls of 162,000, well above consensus, have lifted the implied probability of a 25-basis-point Federal Reserve rate hike at the September 15-16 FOMC meeting to around 60 percent, pressuring gold prices amid rising Treasury yields near 4.8 percent on the 10-year note. Escalating Middle East tensions have pushed Brent crude toward $100 per barrel, amplifying inflation concerns that reinforce the hawkish repricing while providing limited safe-haven support to XAU/USD. Spot gold has traded near $4,400 after a three-session pullback, with traders now focused on Thursday’s PPI and Friday’s CPI releases that could either solidify rate-hike odds or ease them. Higher real yields continue to weigh on the non-yielding metal despite ongoing central-bank buying and geopolitical risks.
