Silver prices have traded in the $65–$68 range during the week of September 7, 2026, amid conflicting macro forces. A stronger-than-expected August nonfarm payrolls report shifted market-implied odds of a Federal Reserve rate hike at the September 16 FOMC meeting to roughly 60%, supporting Treasury yields and the dollar while capping gains in the zero-yield metal. Offsetting this, broad dollar softness—partly tied to yen strength and Treasury buyback activity—has provided support, as has persistent geopolitical tension in the Strait of Hormuz that lifted oil prices and kept safe-haven demand alive. Traders are focused on Thursday’s PPI and Friday’s August CPI releases for fresh signals on inflation momentum before the central bank decision. Longer-term, structural supply deficits and industrial demand continue to underpin the broader uptrend above the $63 level.
