Recent polls show Roseana Sarney (MDB) maintaining a clear lead for one Senate seat in Maranhão's October 4 contest, leaving a tight contest for second among Weverton Rocha (PDT), André Fufuca (PP), Lahesio Bonfim (NOVO), and Eliziane Gama (PT). Multiple surveys from August and early September place these four within the margin of error in combined first- and second-preference totals, with high undecided shares and blank/null responses keeping probabilities fluid. Regional voting patterns, coalition support in interior municipalities versus São Luís, and the final stretch of free electoral advertising are the main variables that could separate the contenders before election day. Trader pricing reflects this narrow gap and the potential for late shifts in turnout or preference among the roughly 5.2 million eligible voters.
