Benedita da Silva (PT) leads recent polling averages for the Rio de Janeiro Senate race, reaching 15% in the latest Quaest survey (up from prior rounds) and 23% on first-preference votes, with Paraná Pesquisas showing her at 30.7% in total mentions. This positioning reflects her established name recognition as a former governor and federal deputy, plus alignment with President Lula’s coalition, which supports her path to the top spot in a contest for two seats where voters select up to two candidates. Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos) holds second place in most surveys at 8–20.5%, aided by prior mayoral visibility and a TSE ruling in August that cleared his candidacy despite prior ineligibility concerns. Other contenders including Carlos Jordy, Pedro Paulo, and Carlos Portinho remain clustered lower, with high undecided and blank/null shares (around 25–50% across polls) leaving room for late shifts before the October 2026 vote.
