The September 27 French Senate elections, renewing 178 of 348 seats through indirect voting by local officials, position the Union Centriste—currently at 59 members with roughly 30 seats in play—for outcomes clustered around its present strength. Recent municipal results have reinforced centrist and center-right local networks, supporting expectations of stability or modest net gains amid limited overall turnover. Analysts note the group's potential to narrow the gap with the Socialist group (64 seats) or even surpass it depending on losses elsewhere, while RN advances primarily target Les Républicains. Traders' emphasis on the 59-61 range reflects the indirect electoral system's bias toward established delegations and the absence of major recent shifts that would favor larger swings.
