Raphaël Glucksmann leads the first-round market at 41% amid a fragmented field of declared candidates including Olivier Faure, Philippe Brun, Jérôme Guedj, Emmanuel Maurel, and Ségolène Royal. The October 9-10 electronic primary, organized jointly by the Parti socialiste and Place publique, features internal divisions over voter eligibility and a 15-euro participation fee for non-members that some candidates criticize as restrictive. Recent exchanges have centered on whether to expand the contest to include figures such as François Ruffin, with Faure favoring broader access while Glucksmann insists on adhering to rules previously approved by PS militants. These procedural disputes, combined with multiple contenders drawing from overlapping social-democrat and left-leaning bases, sustain the tight contest and leave room for shifts based on turnout and last-minute endorsements before voting begins.
