This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources.**Sustained community transmission in multiple states, driven by large ongoing outbreaks in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin, is the main factor lifting 2026 U.S. measles totals.** As of September 3, the CDC reported 3,134 confirmed cases year-to-date—already far above 2025’s full-year record of 2,289—with 95% outbreak-linked and 94% occurring in unvaccinated or unknown-status individuals. The virus’s high contagiousness (airborne spread with R0 typically 12–18) and pockets of low MMR coverage sustain chains of transmission, while weekly case additions of roughly 100 in recent periods reflect active clusters. Official counts rely on laboratory-confirmed reports to state health departments and the CDC, subject to reporting lags and possible under-ascertainment. Key upcoming data points include the CDC’s next weekly update and state surveillance releases through late September that will determine final tallies by the 30th.
