Official National Weather Service observations at San Francisco International Airport recorded a September 9, 2026, maximum of 94°F, exceeding the 1991–2020 normal of 75°F and the prior record of 92°F set in 1951. This extreme resulted from a strong high-pressure ridge over the Southwest combined with subtropical moisture tied to distant tropical remnants, suppressing the marine layer and allowing rapid daytime heating under partly cloudy skies with low humidity. Trader consensus around the 92–93°F bin reflects aggregated real-money assessment of these verified conditions and historical analogs for late-summer heat events. Revision of the official reading or use of an alternate downtown station could alter resolution, though model consensus and post-event data make such shifts unlikely.
