This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Senate of the Philippines convicts Sara Duterte of any of the articles of impeachment passed by the House of Representatives of the Philippines in May, 2026 by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. This market may resolve early in favor of "No" if the Senate rejects, remands, or otherwise disposes of all of the relevant articles of impeachment without convicting Duterte. The primary resolution source is the Senate of the Philippines and other official information from the government of the Philippines, however other credible reporting may be used. The Philippine Senate's impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, which opened on July 6, 2026, remains closely divided among the 24 senator-judges amid the Marcos-Duterte political rift. Conviction on any of the four articles—covering alleged misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery involving Department of Education officials, and grave threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family—requires a two-thirds majority of 16 votes. Senate blocs reflect competing loyalties, with some members aligned to the Duterte camp and others to the administration, while procedural disputes and evidence disputes over financial records have prolonged proceedings into 2027. Recent developments, including a September 2026 arrest order on threats charges and Supreme Court rulings allowing the trial to continue, have sustained uncertainty without shifting the balance decisively. Trader consensus at 52.5% for conviction reflects this even split and the potential for testimony, alliances, or rulings to alter outcomes before a final vote.
