Incumbent Mayor Paul Lefebvre holds a commanding lead in the Greater Sudbury mayoral race ahead of the October 26 vote, reflecting his 2022 victory margin exceeding 52 percent and consistent messaging around economic momentum. Recent developments include major private and provincial investments in mining infrastructure, population and assessment growth, and progress on projects such as the downtown events centre, all of which traders appear to credit to stable leadership during his first term. Fragmented opposition from candidates including Miranda Rocca-Circelli, Bob Johnston, Troy Crowder, and Rodney Newton has not coalesced into a unified challenge. Scenarios that could narrow the gap include a late scandal, health issue, or sharp economic reversal that shifts voter focus toward accountability on housing, transit, or fiscal oversight.
