Silver (XAG/USD) rebounded sharply during the week of September 14, 2026, recovering from lows near $62.30 to settle the front-month Comex contract at $66.556, up 3.10% weekly after an initial post-FOMC selloff. The Federal Reserve's 25-basis-point rate hike to the 3.75-4.00% target range on September 16, its first in three years, combined with hawkish signals for potential further tightening, initially pressured the non-yielding metal amid rising 10-year Treasury yields that peaked near 5.04%. A subsequent correction in oil prices and yields easing to around 4.93-4.94% supported the recovery by tempering inflation concerns and dollar strength. Silver's dual industrial and investment demand amplified the move, with traders monitoring upcoming U.S. data releases for further clues on the policy path.
