Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for Atlanta on September 22 points to a partly sunny day with afternoon thunderstorms possible, supporting highs centered in the upper 80s. Official NWS forecasts indicate a maximum near 90 °F (32 °C), while ensemble outputs and local observations show temperatures peaking between 85–90 °F depending on cloud cover and convective timing. These conditions align with the market-implied odds favoring the 88–89 °F bin, as scattered storms and increasing humidity are expected to limit full solar heating compared with clearer days. Historical September averages near 82 °F provide context, but the current warm pattern and 30–50 % precipitation chances explain why probabilities cluster tightly around the mid-to-upper 80s rather than extremes. Updated model runs and afternoon observations will refine the final observed high before market resolution.
