Recent August CPI data showed China's annual inflation rebounding to 0.8% from July's 0.5%, driven by higher non-food prices including transport and energy costs amid elevated global commodity and fuel prices, alongside a narrower food drag. Core inflation edged up to 1.0%, while producer prices accelerated to 3.8% on upstream input gains in energy and metals sectors. Persistent weak domestic consumption, soft demand, and negative food price trends continue to cap upside, with analysts noting limited pass-through from commodities. These dynamics, combined with base effects and ongoing global price volatility, underpin trader consensus favoring a September reading in the 0.9-1.0% range as the most likely outcome ahead of the mid-October release.
