Cheng Chao-fang leads the Hsinchu County magistrate race at 63% implied probability, ahead of KMT nominee Hsu Hsin-ying at 36.5%, with minor candidates registering negligible support. Recent polling released on September 21 shows Cheng at 35.1% support versus Hsu at 28.7%, reversing an earlier narrow edge for Hsu and reflecting stronger backing in populous Zhubei City. The collapse of local KMT-TPP coordination over the Zhubei mayoral contest has shifted Taiwan People’s Party voters toward Cheng, limiting opposition consolidation ahead of the November 28 vote. Cheng’s nomination by the DPP in June, backed by President Lai Ching-te, and his record as Zhubei mayor contrast with Hsu’s primary win in March and geographic advantages outside the county’s largest city. Trader consensus prices these dynamics as the primary drivers of current positioning.
