Rastislav Trnka, the incumbent Košice Region governor since 2017 running as an independent with backing from Maďarská aliancia, leads trader pricing at 63 percent due to consistent polling advantages of 43–53 percent in surveys from spring and summer 2026. His emphasis on infrastructure projects and regional investment has sustained support despite ongoing legal proceedings over public procurement cases. Marián Porvažník, backed by a broad opposition coalition of eight parties including PS, SaS, KDH, and Demokrati, sits at 30.5 percent, reflecting unified but secondary voter backing in the 10–17 percent range. Igor Šimko, supported by a government-aligned bloc including Hlas-SD, Smer-SD, and Republika, trails at 4.1 percent amid divided pro-government preferences. With candidate lists finalized in late August for the October 24 vote and no major shifts in the past month, the market reflects Trnka’s incumbency edge and name recognition against a fragmented field of challengers.
