The mayoral contest in Banská Bystrica remains tightly contested ahead of the October 24 vote, with incumbent Ján Nosko holding a narrow edge in trader pricing over challenger Diana Javorčíková. An August Focus poll showed Nosko at 38.3 percent and Javorčíková at 36.7 percent among likely voters, well within the margin of error, while Matúš Molitoris and Tomáš Sobota trailed further back. Nosko, seeking a fourth term as an independent with backing from parties including Hlas and Smer, emphasizes continuity on infrastructure and housing projects.
