Local government elections are scheduled to be held across Tasmania on October 27, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Lord Mayor of the City of Hobart as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as declared by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission (https://www.tec.tas.gov.au/).The Hobart Lord Mayor race for the October 27, 2026, Tasmanian local government election remains closely contested among multiple independent candidates after incumbent Anna Reynolds confirmed she would not recontest. With nominations open until September 21, sitting councillors John Kelly, Ryan Posselt, Louise Bloomfield, Bill Harvey, Marti Zucco, and Mike Dutta have declared, alongside Harvey Lennon and others. Trader pricing reflects the fragmented field under single transferable voting, where outcomes hinge on preference distributions rather than primary votes. Recent council debates on budgets, rates, transport infrastructure, and governance have not yet produced clear separation, while the short campaign window and lack of established polling keep implied probabilities distributed. Further candidate statements, formal preference deals, or shifts in local issues such as planning and services could consolidate support ahead of postal voting.
