SpaceX achieved a record $1.75–1.8 trillion IPO valuation in June 2026 after raising roughly $75–85 billion, with shares later trading near a $2.1 trillion market cap amid Starlink growth and AI infrastructure positioning. OpenAI, last valued at $852 billion privately, confidentially filed for a U.S. listing but has delayed any debut until 2027, citing AI safety priorities and caution after SpaceX’s post-IPO volatility. Sam Altman has signaled resistance to listing below a $1 trillion target, while early talks for a $1.2 trillion private round reflect ongoing capital needs without a firm timeline. These developments have produced trader consensus favoring SpaceX’s realized IPO scale over OpenAI’s still-pending and potentially more modest debut.
