The FED interest rates are defined in this market by the lower or the upper bound of the target federal funds range. The decisions on the target federal fund range are made by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meetings. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the lower or the upper bound of the target federal funds rate reaches the specified level at any point by December 31, 2026, 12:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” Emergency rate cuts and hikes outside the regularly scheduled meetings will be considered. The resolution source for this market is the official website of the Federal Reserve at: https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/openmarket.htm. This market may resolve as soon as the relevant data showing the reached level is published. The primary driver of trader sentiment on the federal funds rate path before 2027 is the Federal Reserve’s hawkish June 2026 Summary of Economic Projections, which lifted the median year-end 2026 rate forecast to 3.8% from 3.4% and showed nine participants expecting at least one hike. Persistent core PCE inflation above the 2% target, combined with resilient labor market data and AI-driven productivity gains, has prompted new Chair Kevin Warsh to prioritize price stability with minimal forward guidance. Markets currently price in two 25-basis-point hikes by year-end, while most economists still forecast a hold at the 3.50%-3.75% range. The September 15-16 FOMC meeting and upcoming inflation releases will serve as key near-term catalysts that could shift implied probabilities for any move above or below the current band before 2027.
