Marianne Meed Ward holds the strongest position among traders as the incumbent mayor seeking a third term, drawing on her record since 2018 of infrastructure investments, public safety measures, and intergovernmental relations amid a field of five certified candidates. Two sitting councillors—Lisa Kearns and Rory Nisan—challenge her with platforms centered on tax value, housing, climate resilience, and fiscal restraint, including Nisan’s opposition to recent city budgets. A mid-August poll showed Meed Ward narrowly ahead at 38 percent among decided voters, followed by Nisan at 33 percent and Kearns at 23 percent. Upcoming mayoral debates in September and October, combined with the October 26 election date and online advance voting, remain key variables that could influence final voter turnout and market resolution.
