Recent opinion polls ahead of the September 20 Berlin state election show the AfD at 17-18 percent while the SPD registers 10-12 percent, reflecting the AfD’s sustained gains since the 2023 repeat vote and the SPD’s continued weakness in the capital. The AfD’s strong performance in the September 6 Saxony-Anhalt contest has reinforced national momentum without altering Berlin-specific trends, where the SPD trails multiple parties and the AfD maintains a clear lead over it. Traders price the AfD at 88 percent implied probability of finishing ahead in vote share because no late developments have narrowed this gap, though the one-week window leaves room for last-minute shifts in turnout or undecided voters.
